ICH Canine Infectious Hepatitis Virus Test for Sale

The ICH Canine Infectious Hepatitis Virus Test is a rapid diagnostic assay designed for the detection of Canine Adenovirus Type 1 (CAV-1), the causative agent of Infectious Canine Hepatitis (ICH). This highly contagious viral disease affects dogs and other canids, targeting the liver, kidneys, and endothelial cells. Early and accurate diagnosis is critical to managing outbreaks, initiating timely treatment, and preventing transmission.

This test utilizes advanced immunochromatographic technology to detect CAV-1 antigens in canine serum, plasma, or ocular/nasal secretions. It offers a simple, user-friendly format, delivering results within 10–15 minutes without the need for specialized equipment. The test is suitable for use in veterinary clinics, laboratories, and animal shelters, providing a reliable first-line screening tool.

Key components of the test kit include a test cassette, sample diluent, and disposable droppers. The procedure involves mixing the sample with the diluent and applying it to the test device, where a visible line appears in the result window if CAV-1 antigens are present. A built-in control line ensures test validity.

The ICH Test demonstrates high sensitivity and specificity, aligning with gold-standard methods like PCR while offering faster turnaround times. Its compact design and room-temperature storage make it ideal for field use. By enabling rapid detection, this test supports effective disease control and improves canine health outcomes.

Steps for Using a ICH Canine Infectious Hepatitis Virus Test

Sample Collection: Collect whole blood, serum, or plasma from the dog. For serum, allow the blood to clot for 15-30 minutes, then centrifuge at 3000 rpm for 10 minutes.

Prepare Reagents: Bring all test components (test cassette, buffer, sample diluent) to room temperature (15-30°C) before use.

Sample Dilution: Mix the serum/plasma sample with the provided diluent (usually 1:5 ratio). For whole blood, follow the manufacturer’s recommended dilution.

Test Procedure:

  • Place the test cassette on a flat, dry surface.

  • Using a pipette, add 2-3 drops (approx. 50–100 µL) of the diluted sample into the sample well (S).

  • Add 1 drop of assay buffer into the buffer well (if required).

  • Wait for Results: Allow the test to develop for 5–10 minutes at room temperature. Do not read results after 15 minutes to avoid false interpretations.

Interpretation:

  • Positive: Two colored lines appear (control line "C" and test line "T").

  • Negative: Only the control line "C" is visible.

  • Invalid: No control line appears; repeat the test with a new cassette.

  • Disposal: Discard used materials according to local biohazard waste regulations.
