Feline Heartworm Antigen FHW Ag Rapid Test
Feline Heartworm Antigen (FHW Ag) Rapid Test Kit is an efficient diagnostic tool designed specifically for cats for the rapid qualitative detection of feline heartworm-specific antigens in whole blood, serum or plasma. The kit uses lateral flow immunoassay technology, is easy to operate, does not require additional equipment, and can obtain intuitive and reliable test results within 5-10 minutes, providing clinicians with timely and accurate diagnostic evidence. Its storage conditions are loose (2-30°C), transportation is convenient (room temperature), and its shelf life is up to 24 months, making it very suitable for clinical and field use.
Unlike dog heartworms, cats are atypical hosts, and usually only 1 to 3 worms survive to maturity after infection, but even mild infections can cause serious consequences. Clinical symptoms vary, including coughing, asthma-like attacks, cyclical vomiting, loss of appetite, weight loss, etc. In severe cases, difficulty walking, fainting, epilepsy, and even sudden death may occur. The kit is particularly suitable for cats with symptoms such as palpitations, weak pulse, arrhythmia or heart murmurs, helping to detect infection early and avoid worsening of the disease.
Complications of feline heartworm disease, such as heart failure and pulmonary hypertension, are life-threatening, so early diagnosis is crucial. With its high accuracy and rapid interpretation, this test kit is an ideal choice for veterinary clinical screening and diagnosis. Through timely testing, targeted treatment plans can be developed for cats, significantly improving prognosis and ensuring pet health.

Feline Heartworm Antigen (FHW Ag) Rapid Test Kit Operation Steps
1. Sample and Reagent Balance
Before testing, ensure that the sample to be tested (whole blood, serum or plasma) and the test device are balanced at 15-25℃ to avoid temperature affecting the accuracy of the results.
2. Prepare the test device
Take out the test card from the sealed aluminum foil bag and place it horizontally on a clean, stable table to avoid tilting to affect the sample addition effect.
3. Sample processing
Use a pipette to draw 50 μL of sample and add it to the accompanying test buffer vial. Mix gently to ensure that the sample and buffer are fully integrated.
4. Sample addition test
Use a dropper to draw 3 drops (about 120 μL) of the diluted sample and drop it vertically into the sample addition hole (marked "S") of the test card to avoid bubbles.
5. Wait for reaction
Let it stand for 5-10 minutes to judge the result. The data read after more than 15 minutes is invalid and needs to be retested.
Result interpretation
Positive (+): Both C line (quality control line) and T line (test line) appear, regardless of the depth of the T line.
Negative (-): Only C line appears, and T line has no color.
Invalid: C line does not appear, and retesting is required.
Fast and efficient: The test only takes 5-10 minutes, and can quickly determine whether the cat is infected with heartworms, so as to facilitate timely treatment measures and improve the success rate of treatment.
Easy to operate: No professional equipment is required, only a small amount of whole blood, serum or plasma samples are needed to complete the test, which is suitable for clinical and home use.
High accuracy: The lateral flow immunoassay technology is used, which has strong specificity and can accurately detect cat heartworm antigens to reduce the risk of misdiagnosis.
Intuitive interpretation: The results are clear and easy to distinguish, and can be judged by the naked eye, avoiding complex operations and ensuring reliable test results.
Convenient storage and transportation: It can be stably stored at 2-30°C for 24 months and transported at room temperature, which is convenient for long-term storage and wide use.
Advantages of early diagnosis: It can detect antigens in the early stage of infection, help veterinarians intervene in time, and reduce the risk of severe illness and sudden death.
Wide application: It is suitable for cats at different stages of infection, and can provide effective diagnostic basis regardless of the severity of symptoms.
Prevention of complications: Early detection can avoid serious complications such as heart failure and pulmonary hypertension, and improve the quality of life of cats.
