Feline Herpesvirus Antigen (FHV Ag) Rapid Test Kit is a qualitative test tool based on immunochromatographic analysis technology, which is used to quickly and accurately detect feline herpesvirus antigens in cat saliva, nasal swabs, conjunctival secretions and serum plasma. The kit is easy to operate and does not require special equipment. It can obtain intuitive test results in a short time (usually 10-15 minutes). It is suitable for clinical veterinary medicine, pet hospitals and catteries, etc., to help early diagnosis and timely intervention.
Feline herpesvirus (FHV) is a member of the α-herpesvirus subfamily. It mainly causes acute upper respiratory tract infection (URI) in cats, with symptoms including sneezing and increased eye and nasal secretions. The virus is transmitted through direct contact with the saliva and eye and nasal secretions of infected cats, and can also be indirectly transmitted through sneezing droplets or shared food bowls and cat litter boxes. Latently infected cats may relapse and excrete toxins when they are stressed or their immunity is reduced, becoming a hidden source of infection. This kit captures viral antigens through specific antibodies, has high sensitivity, and can effectively screen suspected cases. It is especially suitable for group infection monitoring and individual health assessment.
This detection method does not require complex training, and the results are clear and easy to read. It provides efficient technical support for the prevention and control of feline herpes virus, helps reduce the risk of virus transmission, and ensures the health of the cat population.

Steps for using the Feline Herpesvirus Antigen (FHV Ag) Rapid Test Kit
1. Sample collection
Use a sterile cotton swab to collect the cat's conjunctival, nasal or oral secretions, and ensure that the cotton swab is fully moistened.
2. Sample processing
Insert the collected cotton swab into the test buffer tube, rotate and shake the cotton swab for 10-15 seconds to fully dissolve the sample in the buffer.
3. Sample addition test
① Take out the test card and place it horizontally on a clean table.
② Use a dropper to absorb the sample liquid in the buffer and vertically drip 3 drops into the sample well ("S" well) of the test card.
4. Result interpretation
Wait for 5-10 minutes to observe the results. Results that exceed 20 minutes are invalid.
Positive (+): Both the C line (quality control line) and the T line (test line) appear, regardless of the depth of the T line.
Negative (-): Only the C line appears, and the T line has no color.
Invalid: The C line does not appear and needs to be retested.
Notes
Before testing, check whether the reagent is within the validity period.
Avoid touching the reaction membrane of the test card to prevent contamination.
If the sample is too viscous, it can be appropriately diluted before testing.
Fast and efficient: The test only takes 10-15 minutes, no complex equipment is required, suitable for clinical instant diagnosis, and helps veterinarians quickly develop treatment plans.
Easy to operate: No professional training is required, just collect saliva, nasal swabs or eye secretions, follow the steps to read the results, saving time and effort.
High sensitivity: Using immunochromatographic technology, FHV antigens can be accurately captured, even low concentrations of viruses can be detected, reducing the risk of missed diagnosis.
Intuitive results: The test results are displayed through clear strips, which can be read by the naked eye to avoid subjective errors and ensure reliability.
Widely applicable: Suitable for suspected infected cats, latent carriers and group screening, helping early detection and isolation, blocking the spread of the virus.
Economical and practical: Low cost, suitable for high-frequency use scenarios such as pet hospitals and catteries, high cost performance, and reduced testing burden.
Non-invasive sampling: Supports painless sampling methods such as saliva and nasal swabs, reducing cat stress and improving test compliance.
Auxiliary prevention and control: quickly identify sick cats and carriers, and provide a scientific basis for prevention and control measures such as vaccination and environmental disinfection.
Feline Herpesvirus Antigen (FHV Ag) Rapid Test Kit is widely used in pet hospitals, catteries and animal quarantine agencies for rapid screening of feline herpesvirus infection. The kit can detect viral antigens in eye, nose and oral secretions, and is suitable for diagnosis of suspected cases with respiratory symptoms (such as sneezing and increased eye and nose secretions), group health monitoring and latent infection screening. Its rapid and accurate characteristics help early intervention to prevent the spread of the virus and provide a reliable basis for clinical treatment and epidemic prevention and control.
